The 2005 Bill Dunn 400m handicap race was held on Tuesday 8th March at the Domain
Athletic Centre. The event was conducted as a straight final, with six starters
in the men's race.
The Bill Dunn Memorial saw Michael Sullivan given the honour of leading the field, with Sam Keenan and Ryan Foster set the task of making up 11 seconds on the front marker. The 2003 winner was obviously keen to add another title to his collection and staged a brave front running display to hold off his brother Chris. Daniel Carter was beaten by a whisker for third and in a blanket finish, Ryan Foster held off Sam Keenan, with Tony McMaster grabbing the wooden spoon. The trophy now heads to the Sullivan household for the third year out of the past four and this is a matter that the handicapper will have to give careful consideration to next year.
