The Bill Dunn and Laura Triffitt 400m Memorial Handicap races were held on January 19th and proved to be a highly successful night. Heats were keenly contested in both the men’s and women’s events, making for two very even Finals.
The women’s final saw a nervy Monique Sparks lead the field from the start to finish. In the back straight it appeared as if Jo Glade-Wright had the momentum to win and then in the final 100m a charging Emily Bell threatened, but Monique held on for a well deserved victory.
Emily finished runner up for the second year running but took some consolation from her time, which was a personal best. Jo’s third placing was a most impressive performance and saw the beginning of a welcome form reversal for the rest of the season.
Thankyou to all who athletes and parents who supported the event and assisted
in its organisation.
