The 2000 Laura Triffett Memorial 400m Hanicap race was held in very hot conditions, causing a number of withdrawals from the final. The women's event (Laura Triffett Memorial) was again conducted as a straight out final, with five starters lining up. Cassandra Smith off go led for most of the race but was unable to sustain the pace over the final 100m, allowing Aimee Tatnell (4 Seconds) to grab the lead. Aimee held on to win narrowly from Kylie Van Est (7 Seconds), with Cassandra third. Back marker Chloe Merry finished 4th, while two time winner Jessica Lyden was harshly dealt with by the handicapper, finishing at the rear of the field.
